Kunsthaus Zurich, renovated in 1976, boasting sophisticated lighting and display is one of the world’s most modern museums. The Zurich Art Gallery founded in Victorian times is the most important gallery in Zurich and covers artworks from medieval times to the 20th century. Religious art from the 15th century and some works of Rubens and Rembrandt are on show but most of the paintings and sculptures are from the 19th and 20th century artists. This fine collection includes works by Giacometti, the Swiss born artist, Rodin, Chagall, Matisse, Picasso, Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec and the largest collection of Edvard Munch’s work outside his native country.
